An Optimized Power Management Topology for an Automotive Fuel Cell-Battery Hybrid System

presented at Fuel Cell Seminar and Energy Exposition, Orlando, FL, USA, November 2011

This presentation discussed the algorithms to run the power converter circuits for sharing load between a battery pack and the fuel cell stack to operate the stack of high temperature PEM fuel cells at optimum efficiency for avoiding cell membrane damage and for higher cycle life. The simulation was done for IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) and the net simulation showed an efficient utilization of the fuel-cell stack, once it is up and running.
