Battery Management System

with TVS Motor Company

BMS is an important requirement for the Li-ion based energy storage in the (hybrid) electrical vehicle system. Implemented the BMS to increase the cycle life of cells by protecting the pack against extreme operating conditions. Designed the BMS to reduce dependency on Li-chemistry & cell rating. Implemented SOC & SOH algorithms. Developed the software to control charging, discharging, and balancing based on calculated/estimated battery conditions and load conditions. This BMS was evaluated on vehicles and was tested for all failure modes. Hybrid & 3-Wheeler Electric Vehicles from TVS demonstrated at AUTOEXPO-2014 (Motor Vehicle Show) in India, included battery packs with this BMS design.
